Why I Believe Health Shouldn’t Feel This Hard
Meet Robyn

“You don’t need to start another diet.
You need a realistic way to look after yourself that actually fits around real life.”
Unfortunately, we live in a world full of conflicting advice about health, fitness and nutrition. Every day we’re told to cut carbs, avoid sugar, skip meals, detox, track everything, eat less, exercise more and chase the next quick fix. It’s no wonder so many people feel confused.
I know because I was one of them.
When I was younger, I became fascinated by health and fitness. I wanted to feel more confident in myself and learn how to look after my body. Whilst studying and qualifying as a gym instructor, I became involved in bodybuilding and restrictive dieting.
What started as a desire to be healthier quickly became an unhealthy obsession.
I developed an eating disorder, became fearful around food and found myself trapped in the very cycle I now help others break free from.
At the time, I genuinely believed I was doing the right thing.
I wasn’t trying to harm myself.
I was trying to feel better.
Looking back, I realise how much misinformation exists around food, body image and weight loss. So many people are simply trying their best, yet find themselves stuck in cycles of restriction, guilt and frustration because they’ve never been taught a healthier way.

That experience completely changed the way I view health, fitness and nutrition.
What I realised is that most people aren’t struggling because they lack willpower or motivation. They’re struggling because they’re surrounded by so much conflicting advice. We’re constantly told to cut out food groups, follow strict meal plans, eat less, exercise more and chase the next quick fix. It’s exhausting.
For years, I believed that health had to be hard. I thought being healthy meant being restrictive, constantly watching what I ate and feeling guilty whenever I got it wrong. It took me a long time to realise that health shouldn’t feel like punishment and food shouldn’t be something we’re scared of.
That’s why I created Thrive.
Not to help people start another diet, but to help people finally stop needing one.
Today, my mission is simple. I want to help people build confidence around food, movement and themselves. Whether that’s supporting women who have spent years dieting, helping someone navigate menopause, or delivering talks in schools to help young people develop a healthier relationship with their bodies, the goal is always the same.
To help people break free from the cycle and create a healthier lifestyle that actually fits around real life.
Because looking after yourself shouldn’t feel overwhelming. It should feel achievable, sustainable and something that enhances your life rather than takes it over.
